Interoperating learn eXact LCMS, HarvestRoad Hive and Sakai CLE and Moodle VLEs in New Generation Digital Content Marketplaces
Bryan Eldridge, Giunti Labs
This demonstration focuses on a new generation 3-tier model strategy for empowering the digital marketplace. The solution presented is comprised of a back-end content production infrastructure, a middle tier trusted and federated content broker and harvester and a front-end set of interoperable VLEs, Moodle and Sakai CLE.
Integration of a Resource List Management Service Within The Cal State Digital Marketplace
Peter Lamothe - Giunti Labs
This demonstration focuses on the creation of reading lists created from content made available via an OSID federation search. The solution presented is comprised of a standards-based, open architecture digital repository and a 508 compliant resource list management service.
1:45 - 2:30 p.m:
Discover and Use Distributed Content with the Federated Repository Search Tool in Blackboard
Mark O’Neil - Dartmouth College
There is a wealth of content stored in repositories which would benefit educators and learners alike. Unfortunately this content is rarely easily discoverable, let alone useable in a Course Management System or other constructive learning environment. Based on the OKI Repository OSID, the Federated Repository Search Tool solves this by providing a simple, easy to use interface that enables users to discover and use content that is distributed across repositories.
2:45 - 3:30 p.m:
PlugJam: Next generation Social Networking
Stuart Sim - Common Need
This demonstration will showcase the use of open adapters to build next generation social networking and learning platforms that integrate directly with existing campus based and remote resources already used by legacy systems. The PlugJam platform makes use of the OKI OSID framework to leverage existing connector adaptors and lower the cost of systems integration. The Open Knowledge Initiative (O.K.I.) is an important part of the CommonNeed vision to bringing down the barriers to new tools adoption and overall innovation in the education sector.
4:00 - 4:45 p.m:
OSCELOT Open Source Community
Mark O’Neil - Dartmouth College
OSCELOT is a community of developers, users, and proponents of open source technology who create and employ solutions to e-Learning challenges. Mark O'Neil, President and CEO of OSCELOT, will explain the benefits of OSCELOT, some real world successes, and how interested parties can get involved today!
